For those of you who don’t know, I’m running the Great North Run in honour of my uncle who committed suicide last year and will be raising money for the mental health charity Mind.
To help me fundraise, my friend Stevie said if I could pull together £200 he would have his head shaved.
I managed to get £247.50.
Here’s what happened…

Do you have anyone in your life who you love so much but at the same time can’t stand them?
Meet one of my best friends, Stevie.
I hate him.
As a part of this auction project, Stevie has donated his head. That’s right, Stevie will SHAVE HIS HEAD in exchange for monetary donations to my Great North Run attempt.
Now before you say “oh, how sweet of him”, it’s not. He’s selfish.
Years ago Stevie was nothing. He was a little scared fledgling at Uni and I moulded him into the swan we see today.
But ever since he moved to London, got a fashionable haircut and trousers that don’t fit, he’s changed.
He steals my jokes, steals my friends and now he’s trying to steal the lime light of my auction project by shaving his head.
Here’s how it will work:
- Donate as much as you can to my virgin money page here… ensuring you add SHAVE STEVIE to the comments section
- The more you donate, the more hair that comes off
- £100.00 = grade 5, £125.00 = grade 4, £150.00 = grade 3, £175.00 = grade 2, £200.00 = grade 1
- Whoever makes the highest single donation will get to do the actual shaving themselves!
- On Stevie’s request, the shaving will take place on his big brother’s birthday, the 28th July. This is the kind of selfish guy he is, ladies and gentlemen.
So, let’s teach him a lesson. Let’s teach him a lesson for a good cause and ensure he gets a complete skin head. I don’t want him having a grade 5. I want a slap top.
His little hook nose, weak chin and ghost like complexion will not suit a shaved head. He’ll look like Voldermort.
It will be ace, so dig deep and donate here…
Don’t forget to add SHAVE STEVIE in the comments when donating so I know why you’ve donated and can keep track of the total.

Lot: A signed, hardback, copy of Chris Evans’ autobiography It’s not what you think
Lot Number: 4
Date of auction: Friday 7th December
Donated by: Simon Best (@simonpjbest)
Condition: Published in 2009 but this copy has never been used
Synopsis/Description: (Inside cover)
Chris Evans’s extraordinary career has seen him become one of the country’s most successful broadcasters and producers. From The Big Breakfast to Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush and TFI Friday, Chris changed the TV landscape during the ‘90s; and on Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio, BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast show and as owner of Virgin Radio he ushered in the age of the celebrity DJ.
But this is only part of the Chris Evans story. In this witty and energetically written autobiography, Chris describes the experiences that shaped the boy and created the man who would go on to carve out such a dazzlingly brilliant career. Born on a dreary council estate in Warrington and determined to escape, Chris started out as the best newspaper boy on the block, armed with no more than a little silver Binatone radio that he would take to the newsagents each day and through which he would develop a life-long and passionate love affair with the music and voices that emerged.
From paperboy to media mogul, It’s Not What You Think isn’t what you think – it’s the real story beyond the glare of the media spotlight from one of this country’s brightest and boldest personalities.
Reviews: “He might once have been a tosser, a liar, a drunkard and a tyrant, but it is as an autobiographer that Chris Evans seems finally to have grown up.” – Elizabeth Day, The Guardian
